DEN KURÁ WILHELMINA

DEN KURÁ WILHELMINA

a theatrical walk in Wilhelminapark
13.06 2026

‘Living Archives’ is a participatory art project by Witte Rook that uses cultural exchange and co-creation to highlight the culture of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom and our shared history. There is a Wilhelminapark in Breda, Tilburg and on Curaçao. These parks bear traces of history, such as the colonial past, but are also meeting places for the present and the future.

In this project, we will explore together what this history means in the here and now, working in collaboration with the Curaçaoan community in both cities. In June 2026, two public performances are planned in the Wilhelmina Parks in Tilburg and Breda, taking the form of a collaborative theatrical walk. Curaçaoan culture will take centre stage through dance, music, stories and art that demonstrate how traditions are transformed into powerful contemporary expressions.

On Saturday 13 June, the first performance of ‘Den Kurá Wilhelmina’ (In Wilhelmina’s Garden) will take place in Tilburg’s Wilhelminapark, which is, as it were, PARK’s ‘front garden’. You are warmly welcome from 2.00 pm until around 4.00 pm, we’ll be gathering at the park’s carousel and playground, admission is free.
This afternoon, PARK will serve as the base for the event.
