RAAK

RAAK

tactile awareness workshop, Cid Pijnenburg
02/09.06 2025

What all does a person consciously touch in a day? Perhaps most often, it is the mobile phone in our hand. What does it do to us when we increasingly swipe thoughtlessly across a screen, instead of consciously holding our loved ones? What happens when someone discovers that the sense of touch can be valuable for checking in with oneself, recognising one's own needs or better sensing boundaries within intimacy?

In the past year, as a graduation project, Cid Pijnenburg designed a complementary form of sex education called Touchscape: a tactile workshop in which young adults (18-25 years old) gained insight into the value of touch. How can you discover your needs and boundaries through touch? And what is important to you as an individual within intimacy?

Building on this idea, Cid developed a new series of exercises accessible to a broader, borderless target group. This new workshop bears the name Raak. To design the exercises, Cid again collaborated with various experts, including sexologists, a drama therapist and a touch therapist. Raak is intended as an approachable introduction to the sense of touch. During the workshop at PARK, which will take place twice, Cid hopes to create awareness of the value of touch. And she hopes people will gain insight into touch towards themselves, their loved ones and the space they are in.
